I’m tired today. Feeling like the weather outside my door; a bit gray.
Tired of battling technology, jumping the same frustrating hurdles year after year, when all I want to do is write! I argue with myself. Contemplate surrendering the day instead of finishing this post.
Searching through my photos for just the right one to convey the heart of the message, it comes to me; on tired days we need to seek a different window. One framed through beauty, faith, hope, and light. There we understand, tired is not an excuse to quit.
On a break, I reach for a book, thinking to send it off to a friend. It falls open to the middle. The words jump off the page:
Be strong and courageous… Be strong and very courageous… be strong and courageous.
In triplicate, bulleting the message home.
The enemy’s tactics are often simple: distract, wear us down, keep us focused on the gray. There we are tempted to give up.
If you’re with me in a battle with fatigue or discouragement today, let’s stand in the light of a different window, focused on what matters.
We must keep our eyes fixed on the window through which we are called to shine.
Distractions come. Frustrations happen. Tired gray days are just part of it. So we rest for a bit. Take a break. Make a cup of tea. Nap if the need is true. But remember…
Tired is only temporary. And when it comes to our calling, it’s never an excuse to quit.
This is my command – be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go. ~ Joshua 1:9 NLT
Amen.
QUESTION: How can you be strong and courageous today by reminding yourself that tired is not an excuse to quit, but a reminder to choose a more beautiful window?
Well this post kinda hit me square between the eyes on a number of levels. Thank you for sharing this.
So glad it was an encouragement. Gave me a reason to read it again. The funny part is, I needed to be reminded of this again now myself. Perhaps it’s just the time of year to be worn out. The new beginning of the New Year can always be counted on to lend a boost. Blessings to you in the New Year ahead!
