The past several years God has been walking me through lessons in forgiveness. He seems to have a way of cleverly taking me back, near to the scene of the crime. To places I planned never to return. Yesterday was another such “opportunity” : )
Turns out one of the doctors instrumental in restoring my health (and the health of several of my friends), just happens to have an office next door to the doctor who was nearly the death of me twenty years ago.
Now, to know me is to know I believe that God eventually works everything – e-v-e-r-y-s- i-n-g-l-e-s-t-i-n-k-i-n-t-h-i-n-g – together for the good.
The fruit of our sweetest blessings arises from the seeds of our hardest things.
Make no mistake. I am absolutely NOT proposing we return to an abuser. But when God moves us near that place we’ve determined never to go again, let’s be brave.
When fear rises, let’s PRAY! For the one who did us harm. For God’s Good Plan over their lives. Because believe it or not, He has one!
Then be watchful of miracles.
It likely won’t happen tomorrow. Perhaps not for twenty more years. But one day good will come. Even if it’s as simple as already knowing the way, to bring ourselves and our friends to a new open healing door.
Don’t you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now—life for many people. ~ Genesis 50:20 MSG
Amen.
QUESTION: What door is God nudging you toward today? What if lessons in forgiveness are miracles just waiting to happen?
