Are you afraid to celebrate your joys?
Recently I caught myself covering up my joys – the miracles of God that have followed a lifetime of having to wait. It’s rooted in fear of offending or seeming to boast.
Then I came upon this quote by Walt Disney who overcame tremendous obstacles to bring good things to the world. He said: “If nothing changed, there’d be no butterflies.”
Butterflies… Those universal instigators of delight that make our hearts sing every time. Heaven’s winged reminders that God still works miracles in the midst of ordinary days.
Do you see the folly? Attempting to mask our glee is like a butterfly trying to hide its wings.
So let’s embrace those moments when so much beauty and brightness converge our souls swell open unable to be contained. For in witnessing our transformation, others may be given hope as well.
And the redeemed of the LORD will return and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy. Joy and gladness will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee. ~ Isaiah 51:11
Amen.
QUESTION: How can you begin to allow yourself to celebrate your joys more openly today?
