Have you ever wondered what it means to be in Christ? Why it’s mentioned in the Bible over 80 times?
My husband likes to say we can’t put God in a box. But this picture got me to thinking of the shelter from the storms of life that we can have in Christ.
A few years ago at a writers conference, we were asked to consider what it means to “abide” in Christ – to live our lives every moment from that place. Over time that question changed everything.
I’ve been on many long journeys where I invited God to ride along – in the co-pilot seat if you will. But abiding means to “put on Christ”; to not only invite Him to ride along, but to let Him drive; then to remain IN Him, rather than take hold of the wheel. Deep, I know. But again… It changes everything.
Life does not become perfect when we come to view Jesus this way. Bitter winds still come. But in Him they touch us less. We are Sheltered in the storm.
So if you should pass by our house and see our frog in a box, remember this… You can’t put God in a box, but in Christ, it’s wise to seek refuge there.
Amen.
In all these things we are more than conquerors… neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus… ~ Romans 8:37-39
