I recall after one very long season of losses in my life, of home, family, and finances, I was led into a desert place to commune, repent , heal, study, and be ministered to. One day as I looked up from that place, a sign appeared in answer to my prayers. Through it God spoke into my broken soul: “Joanna, I love you. I will hold you up. I will carry you, even when everything and everyone else falls away.”
Through the brokenness of losses I discovered the reality of Him… When I could no longer provide for myself, He provided. When a home was lost, a new one was given. When career doors closed, opportunities for ministry were born. When I agreed to leave all possessions behind, He restored more than all I’d lost.
The world would deem it tragedy. In hindsight it was a gift. For in pushing me from the nest, He was teaching me to fly.
If you are in a desert place, I encourage you to look up. Let go of your plan. Discover the One who loves you more than you can comprehend. Cling tightly to His hand and trust He has a Plan.
Consider letting go. After all… Haven’t you always wanted to learn to fly?
Amen.
Instead of your [former] shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach [your people] shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in the land they shall possess double [what they had forfeited]; everlasting joy shall be theirs. ~ Isaiah 61:7 AMP
