When walking through grey seasons – in the skies or in our lives – it’s helpful to remember, it may just be the back side of joy.
No matter what it is, one day it will look different. And though nothing will ever be the same again, something beautiful waits on the other side… Something I discovered through experience.
Through the end of a marriage, I discovered a bigger world.
Through my brother’s death, I gained my Savior.
Through not having children of my own, I have mothered more than I ever could have had.
Through the loss of my possessions, I found a freedom I would never trade.
Through losing my fancy job, I was freed to come home again.
Through running out of money, I discovered God provides.
Through my father’s Alzheimer’s, I met the love of my life.
Through my own extended illness, I learned to trust again.
Whatever it is you’re facing today, trust God… With it, and with you. And become willing to consider, you may just be looking at the back side of joy.
Amen.
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! ~ 2 Corinthians 4:17 NLT
