Are you waiting to do something great with your life? Perhaps, like Dorothy looking to the Wizard for the roadmap she carried inside all along, it’s time to stop waiting for permission.
Forever looking for some mythical other to swing wide the gate catapulting us to the other side is to waste a lifetime.
At some point we alone must take the steps that move us toward our dream. How else will we ever bridge the gap from where we are, to where we want to be?
I’m not talking about leaping off a cliff on a whim. But about committing to move forward one step at a time in the direction of that good thing which has beckoned all of your life.
Because if it never goes away, there’s a reason. But we still have to do the work.
What if today’s the day to stop waiting for permission?
Do you have a dream that’s been hidden in your heart for years? Mine looks like a finished book. One I can hand to the next woman to cross my path who finds herself on the edge, desperate for hope, hungry for change. Shared stories of hard days and difficult years redeemed by God’s transforming touch.
But to get from here to there we have to say “yes” to doing the work, while saying “no” to countless worthwhile but distracting things.
What’s waiting to be created through you? If He’s called you to do it, you have all the permission you need.
So let’s agree to meet for a cup of coffee, when we get to the other side!
…Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you… ~ 1 Chron 28:20
Amen.
QUESTION: If you were to stop waiting for permission, what one small thing could you do today to move in the direction of your dream?
RITA MACDONALD says
I wish we could meet for a cup of coffee on THIS side. You have no idea the timing of this blog you just wrote, and how it spoke to me and was the answer to 2 prayers… Thanks for saying YES to God, and allowing Him to speak into not only MY life, but likely countless others. Someday, we’ll need a great big table to ALL have a cup of java with!

Isn’t God amazing how He does that? Means the world to know He used my words to help. But then again, your blog does the same thing, so you know exactly what I mean : ) Looking forward to that cup of coffee together one day!

Joanna, thank you for this encouraging post. I, too, can say your words are in line with my heart’s cry to God, my request for help. He is so faithful and creative in the ways He is answering. It’s laid out before me, now I have to so something with it.
May you walk in His blessings.

Thanks for being here Lynn. Yes, He is Creative and Faithful indeed. Boy do I understand how challenging it is to “do something about it.” May we both have the courage to press forward as He leads!
