So Hubby and I took a little trip. Drove our daughter back to college in Oregon, then spent a few days driving, strolling, and eating our way back home alongside the ocean and one very large river.
Recent months have overflowed with long, hard work, bookended by quiet stays in remote places. Along the way the inner fog dissipated and a few simple things became clear.
I need to have more fun. Laugh more. Enjoy this sweet short life more. Take pleasure more. Cultivate more opportunities for JOY. Allow more creativity. Create beauty more. Are you with me? Let’s have more fun!
Be it words, photography, art, sewing, painting, coloring. Yes please. MORE of that!
And to make room for all of that there will be a letting go of what doesn’t matter, doesn’t add value, doesn’t contribute to a good life.
Living intentionally. Present to the moment. Loving. Letting go of meaningless, petty, perfectionistic, useless things. Things and attitudes that waste our precious days.
So while picking up a wonderful new treat, a venti coconut milk hot chai tea (yes, I gave up coffee and discovered these in Oregon), I saw the soundtrack to Frozen at the counter. Recalling some hilarious videos on the internet of couples driving and singing along to the song Let It Go, I decided it was the perfect companion for our trip.
Hubby and I spent the rest of the day singing loudly and badly to eachother. It was delicious!
So cheers to more of that! And to more chai!
Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. ~ Psalm 126:2
Amen.
QUESTION: How can you let go of the little nagging things, enjoy the moment, and find more ways to have fun today? I hope you’ll share in the Comments!
There is an awful lot to celebrate, that’s for sure! And fun, for being a such a short word, encompasses so many things. Lots of fun is free and all of fun is freeing. Thanks for your encouragement to be thankful ( and joyful) in all circumstances. It is the high bar but without it I would likely set my sights too low.
Love it Terri! Most often free, and always freeing. And we’re all for freedom aren’t we? I’m curious… what are some of your “fun” things, beside a bite of dark chocolate now and then? I’d love the extra inspiration. Maybe if we all start sharing our ideas of “fun” we’ll all be able to cast a wider net for joy!
