It’s been a wild run of days filled with the joy of friends with tractors : )
I’m convinced. Friends are manna from Heaven – filling the empty places with new life, hope, and joy. Just as amazing as the friends we are given, are the many ways in which they are found.
This week I exercised with a long absent friend who bought the last place we lived. How sweet to walk away the missing years.
Another friend and I took a 5 hour road trip to a blood-letting : ) Okay, truth is, we share the same health issue, doctor, and lab that checks our blood, so it’s a good excuse to catch up and enjoy foods unavailable in our quaint 2-restaurant town. Afterward, she gave me a ride on her tractor. We fed the horses her sweet hubby left behind on his way home to Heaven last year. What a privileged to join her in the task.
I hurried home to put water on for tea with a most precious, book-loving friend. Hungry for time with her, I blink and our time is gone.
Add a long overdue call with friends in the process of moving to Slovenia, via Minnesota. Our lives forever interweave as we all move around the globe, magically ending up in the same place every several years. We plan to meet again in Italy one day!
Prayers reach toward Texas as a deserving friend finally gets a home. Our bond cemented by the shared “opportunity” of starting life over from scratch. Like a mother hen, I watch her from afar. Her story is powerful indeed.
The treasured quiet trust of friends nearby, too busy or too sick to be seen. A hidden rock, they mean the world to me.
Giddy over two gatherings ahead – a reunion with faith-sisters I adore, and a group of women leaping into the creative void together to learn to paint with oils. Strangers, soon to be friends.
The recurring ache for friends who no longer respond. Those who found my life, my words, or my Faith too much, then quietly turned away. I miss you old friends.
Friends made by adoption, as cousins or neighbors, through marriages, relatives of friends, writers conferences, business workshops, volunteering, workplace, church, Bible studies, retreats, clubs, classes. Some discovered through illness or tragedy.
Hearts touching like beads on a string, with friends connected online. You, yes, YOU! Are a blessing to me.
Friends are precious gems. Gifts from God, hand-set in the most valuable tiara of all. If you are reading this, I am thanking God for YOU today! May your life be crowned by many precious friends.
…a sweet friendship refreshes the soul. ~ Proverbs 27:9 MSG
Amen.
