There are people in our lives whose depth of friendship we’ll never really know until all hell breaks loose: Angels in people skin. When you’re emptied of everything you thought you were, these people take you home to rest. And wait for you to remember. They sing over you the praises of our Lord, Who did not make you to leave you out to dry.
Friends hold your heart with loving hands. Offer shelter from the storm. Whisper kindness. Weep over your pain. Prop you up and point you toward true North when you doubt you ever knew the way. Like Jesus, they stand nearby and wait and love you back to life. Wait with you through the darkest night until the light of day. True friends sacrifice.
I have these friends, who when all was lost, opened a door into their hearts and home and family, creating a place for me in their lives, their driveway, and their business. For 8 months they huddled over me like angelic mother hens, sheltering, comforting, providing, tenderly restoring when everything seemed lost. They nursed me back to hope. Walked out the truth that real love sacrifices. Lifts up. Comforts. Restores. Brings Joy.
For a time they were their Sister’s Keeper. And because of that I will never be the same. For them I am so grateful.
John 15:13 ~ Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
This post is dedicated to my precious friends Donna & David Siefker. God Bless you.
Amen.
