“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
โ C.S. Lewis
Itโs amazing what can be learned at waterโs edge. How many winged creatures stop by to teach.
A crane greets me each time I come. Iโm slow to learn so he remains, frozen. A model of calm inaction. Purposeful stillness.
His smaller half darts about, ruffled. Head at odd angles attempting to see beneath the surface. Grabbing at every little thing. Ceaseless efforts to keep oneโs belly full.
A sudden flash of motion, the crane stabs and takes his prize. A big one I might add.
I sit humbled… message received. Stillness can be productive. Not all movement is.
Amen.

Thanks Deborah, I asked God to help because I was so tired, and boy did He!
