You Already Know What to Do

Pursuit of the thing we are called to do, no matter how much we love it, is still hard work. Believing doors and windows fall open toward our destiny is a fallacy. One must still march the road, climb the mountains, get up when we fall down, and keep doing it afraid over and over again until the work is done.

Like a dog with a bone we are called to persist. To finish. To share with those we are called to serve. The reason we are here? To give away the fruit, of the Gift planted within us as seed, to those it was meant to feed.

I am re-reading the book You Are A Writer: (so start ACTING life one). Its message applies not just to writers, but to all who feel compelled to offer something of value to the world. The book insists we speak the truth BEFORE we see the reality.

BEFORE our heads believe what our hearts know is possible.

BEFORE we fully understand the how.

BEFORE we have much more than a desire and a nudge that just won’t let us go.

Why? Because we were made for it.

I AM A WRITER!!!

It’s hard to type it every single time, even though I’ve already published one book with a second one in the works, and have been blogging for 5 years. Fingers stumble with each stroke of a truth I’ve lived most of my life but still find difficult to accept. And even harder to sit down and do. Can you relate?

Why do we sabotage ourselves this way? Because we have help.

There you have the crux of it. FEAR – the enemy in clever disguise. Whittling away our courage by simply putting a little question mark next to every good thing our heart whispers to be true. Causing us to question who we are – who God created us to become.

YOU ALREADY KNOW WHO YOU ARE! It keeps echoing out of our souls. YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT TO DO! Jumps off every page. Inside we know it’s true.

So this week I pulled out the manuscript I haven’t touched in 6 months. Began again to do the work.

Because what if… Sometimes fear is a sign of something worth doing. And helping someone else is all the motivation we need to keep doing it afraid.

Want to make a difference? Reach. Grow. Learn. Love. Do the work and do it afraid. Bear fruit. And share it with the world.
